To this day, Île aux Perroquets is still the first obstacle sailors encounter when they arrive via the north channel of Anticosti. Located about 5 km off the coast of the municipality of Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan, it is distinguished by its silhouette that resembles an ocean liner and its prominent role in the history of navigation since 1888. It also stands out by the amazing people who lived there and left revealing writings and by the communication systems that were in place at the time. So many pretexts to come and discover it.
The island owes its name to the famous sea parrot: the Atlantic puffin. It is a favorite place to observe puffins of course, but also many other species that come to nest there during the summer season.
The Auberge de l'Île aux Perroquets will welcome you in a spirit of relaxation inspired by the 1950s. Our babysitter, our assistant and our captain warmly welcome you. All rooms offer a view of the vastness of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The henhouse, which has become the main living room, has windows on three sides. From there you can gaze out at the neighboring island and watch the birds. Approach glasses will be made available to you.
Let yourself be inspired by the rhythm of the sea and the authenticity of the experience.
